"Yearning by *lien is incredibly simple yet packed with powerful emotions. It is of a person unhappy with his life & is so desperate to find a way out he crawls the walls in desperation. Sometimes life, family, depression, or a lost love make us feel like this: a cornered wounded animal trying to claw our way out to safety & to the light. There is just so much angst dripping from this painting, it hurts even to look at it for too long" (Suggested by *glunac and Featured by `sbaraci)

You defintely should have titled this "Climbing the Walls" or even "Let me out"...but you are right the emotion that comes though is of yearning; of being captured into something that you must escape from even if it means clawing your way out.

So much anguish & passion in a very simplistic format. A powerful work, Neil.

I am so glad that you said that, that the emotion of yearning comes through. I had to title it "Yearning", that was the title stipulated for entering the project.

Thank you so much for the comment, Gloria.

That's really clever. It's such a simple way to get across the meaning. At first sight I actually flinched a bit, which I suppose proves how darkly evocative it is. I like the fact that you've used a white backdrop for this, when so many people would've thoughtlessly gone with the red-on-black cliche.

Once again, less is more.
This have a terrific impact. And you photographied it just the right way to get the maximum of the texture, a good move !

I don't like Nine Inch Nails, but is the only thing I think about when I look at this piece, those big 9 inch nails!

BAD.
i came back here after seeing two. i have been here before-but today it hir me --i must be slow!
anyway-turned the wheel back and saw this work and again another strong one.
raw and i feel the harsh coolness of icy wind -that or the crusting sunburn open sores being touched over and over.
so so raw and unbearable to touch-and almost even see.
like the others-to see in real life...........
:iconmbrummell:
This one was perfect for me to see today. Excellent work! :)

idk if you named this after the radiohead song or not, but it captures the mood of that song for sure. Also, the very first thing i thought of when i saw it was the feeling of being on a locked ward and desperately wanting to go home. clean white cage
