Whenever I mix oil and acrylic it always seems to take weeks to dry. Is this normal or is there a way to speed it up? Sorry, I'm a painting virgin.

It is normal for a mix of oil and acrylic to take ages to dry, this I think is because the acrylic covers the oil and the oil needs to be exposed to the air in order to dry. It also depends what oil you are using and whether it has drying agents in it, but on the whole (depending on the pigment) oil takes ten times longer than acrylic to dry anyway.
Sorry, I don't have any advice for speeding up the process. Most of my work is the product of many surface layers on top of each other so I wait for the previous layer to dry before I work on it.
Don't worry about being a "painting virgin", we all were at some point. Feel free to ask any questions when you want, your welcome to and I will always answer.
